Bringing Commercial Real Estate to Life: NAIOP’s Licensing Course Enhancements
By NAIOP Edmonton Association

At NAIOP Edmonton, we are proud to share the exciting progress on our Commercial Real Estate Licensing courses, made possible through the invaluable contributions of industry leaders and our committed membership. As part of our recent project, we collaborated with top professionals who shared their expertise, real-world insights, and career journeys to enhance the course curriculum.
Key contributors include Sam Narayan, Partner and President of Ever Real Estate Developments; Cory Wosnack, Principal and Managing Director at Avison Young; and Brett Killips and Jamie Topham, Partners at Cushman & Wakefield. Their insights were captured in video modules and industry case study profiles, providing students with practical guidance and inspiration while connecting theory to the realities of the commercial real estate industry.
Specifically, the CBRE Industrial Group, led by Kevin Hughes, contributed to the development of the “Running an Effective RFP Process” module, providing students with a detailed understanding of the RFP process from a national industrial perspective. Institutional Property Advisors (IPA) developed the “Preparing and Presenting Listing Proposals” module, giving learners practical guidance on crafting and delivering proposals that reflect real-world industry standards. These contributions have significantly enriched the curriculum, ensuring that students gain hands-on knowledge that aligns with current industry practices.
NAIOP partners remain dedicated to supporting the creation and refinement of these program materials to ensure they reflect the evolving needs and realities of the sector. This collaboration helps maintain the integrity of the curriculum while equipping learners with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in today’s dynamic market.
To bring this learning to a wider audience, we have also produced short promotional videos featuring these industry experts. These clips will be integrated into our website and shared online to showcase the program and attract more students to pursue a career in commercial real estate.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Alberta Real Estate Foundation for partnering with us on this project and for funding it through their grants. Their support has been instrumental in helping us elevate the Commercial Real Estate Licensing courses and bring the industry to life for learners across the province.
Through initiatives like this, NAIOP continues to bridge the gap between education and industry, fostering the next generation of commercial real estate professionals while keeping our courses relevant, engaging, and connected to the realities of the field.

NAIOP Edmonton was founded in early 2013 in response to a need for networking, education, and advocacy opportunities in Edmonton’s commercial development industry. Edmonton’s strong market fundamentals and vibrant demographic has not gone unnoticed by the international commercial development organization, NAIOP, and with their full support a group of 14 like-minded professionals in the industry set out to establish the organization locally.
